Today's Word
"Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest."
Matthew 11:28
Today's Reflection
Somewhere in the middle of the week, it catches up with us.
The weight of what is unfinished.
The pressure of what is coming.
The quiet accumulation of everything we are carrying.
Jesus does not say: try harder.
He does not say: get yourself together.
He says: come.
Not when you are ready.
Not when you have sorted yourself out.
Now. As you are. With all of it.
There is a kind of Christianity that makes God the reward for a life well-lived.
But that is not the Gospel.
The Gospel is an invitation to the exhausted.
You were not designed to carry this alone.
Come to him. He means it.
Today's Prayer
Lord, I am tired.
Not always in ways I can explain,
but tired nonetheless.
Thank you for the invitation.
Help me to actually accept it today,
to put down what I am carrying
and rest in you, even briefly.
Amen.
Today's Call
Identify one thing you are carrying today that is not yours to carry.
Name it.
Ask God to take it.
Then try to leave it with him.
