Today's Word
"Be still, and know that I am God."
Psalm 46:10
Today's Reflection
In the Jewish tradition, the Sabbath is not merely a day off.
It is a statement about who is in charge.
Six days you work. On the seventh, you stop.
Not because there is nothing left to do,
but because you are not the one who keeps the world running.
The Catholic tradition honours Saturday as a day dedicated to Mary,
the woman who waited.
Who sat with the death of her son on Good Friday
and held the world's hope in her grief on Holy Saturday.
Who trusted the promise even when it was dark.
Most of us are bad at waiting.
We fill the silence.
We find something to do.
We are afraid of what we might hear if we stop.
Today, try stopping.
Not to accomplish anything.
Just to remember who you are
and who God is.
Today's Prayer
Lord, I am not good at stillness.
I fill the quiet with noise and the rest with activity.
Today, help me to be still.
Not because I have nothing to do,
but because I need to remember that you are God
and I am not.
Amen.
Today's Call
Take ten minutes today with no phone, no screen, no task.
Just sit.
If thoughts come, let them go.
Come back to the silence.
That is enough.
